I recently flew to Houston Texas to photograph Sophia and Austin’s engagement session.
I absolutely love photographing engagement sessions and this one was extra special to me as Sophia is my beautiful niece.
Sharing some of my favorite photos from the day…
We started off in in the town of League City .
I usually avoid dappled light but Sophia loved the charm of this quaint old church – I love it too and this image received some interesting comments on my Instagram page.
A couple of people have told me it has a Norman Rockwell feel. Unbeknownst to me, Norman Rockwell is my niece’s (who is a very talented artist btw) favorite illustrator.
I love using gorgeous backlight and shallow depth of field because they add so much dimension thus creating a romantic dreamy mood.
And in addition to architecture I love to use nature and I specifically look for interesting elements in the background like the trees on the left.
I love to include some fun captures in the final collection of images – especially when they happen naturally – like here.
I especially love the way the sunlight showcases Sophia’s pink skirt.
Classic portraits are just as important as the fun and creative ones.
I always like to provide a classic portrait within the gallery of engagement session photos , where the couple is looking in camera and it includes their engagement ring.
And I truly believe that if not today, perhaps years down the road; these portraits will become a precious documentation of this point in your life.
I do love the Spanish Moss that hangs from the trees in the South.
Sophia’s rose gold engagement ring truly is exquisite.
Looking forward with great joy to their wedding next year in Galveston Texas.
Wishing them both a lifetime of love and happiness…
