I am so excited to blog my last wedding of 2017!
This music themed wedding took place at two historic Long Island locations: The Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay and The Suffolk Theater in Riverhead.
Daniela and Justin are passionate music lovers that have an amazing and unique “how we met story”…
They each purchased a single ticket to a Tom Petty concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City and ended up being seated next to one another.
The Suffolk Theater was the perfect venue choice to bring their musical/theater love-story full circle.
I had never photographed a wedding at The Suffolk Theater before and I was so excited to work at this restored historical, Art Deco gem.
Furthermore, their Ceremony took place at The Planting Fields Arboretum and this was the first wedding ceremony I have ever photographed in the Coe Hall historic mansion.
Florist, Kim Jon Designs, designed a gorgeous arm bouquet out of Calla Lilly’s.
And for something borrowed and blue, Daniela wore her maternal Grandmother’s fur stole and Paternal Grandmother’s ring.
I love when personal family heirlooms are included in the wedding day..
Justin’s custom cuff links. And a Pink Floyd set for his Dad.
One of the things I loved the most about shooting in this ceremony location is photographing from behind the bride and groom – allowing me to capture a variety of scenes and perspectives.
As Daniela laughs/reads her hand-written vows to Justin, Daniela ‘s Mom is seen in the background “warming their wedding rings.”
The idea is to have your guests pass your rings around so that each guest can “warm” the rings with their touch and perhaps say a silent prayer or blessing before passing it to the next guest – before the bride and groom exchange them to one another.
The sheet music in the foreground is their recessional song: “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys. Which was played to perfection by Vinny from Luminous Sounds.
I love the visual interest of the harlequin patterned floor in Coe Hall.
The Suffolk Theater originally opened in 1933.
Here is the original ticket booth in the foyer – used for handing out “tickets” to the guests for their seating arrangements.
So clever and unique.
The cake topper on the bottom right was created by Simply Silhouettes…using the silhouette photo from their engagement session.
They hired the talented band – Reprimand.
However, as ardent Tom Petty fans – forever grateful to him and his music; they chose to use Tom Petty’s actual recording on LP of his beautiful and moving song “Angel Dream” for their first dance.
Played on a record player on stage.
“I dreamed you, I saw your face
Caught my lifeline when drifting through space
I saw an angel, I saw my fate
I can only thank God it was not too late” ~ Tom Petty
Daniela and her Dad dancing like pros to the classic Elvis song, ‘The Wonder of You.”
Instead of a photo booth, artist, “Caricaturist 4 Hire” sketched away fun portraits.
Delicious Apple Tarts for all their guests baked by the local North Fork Briermere Farms.
Thank you ever so much Daniela & Justin for allowing me to be a part of your special day and document your unique story.
Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and love.
xoxo
